Right on!
Stuck in my head: "Eleanor Rigby" and "Hey Jude" - The Beatles
There's this recent Dan Radcliffe
interview by Blender magazine...and he talks about music and all that stuff. This is one about the Sex Pistols:
"I love real punk - not Avril Lavigne, who thinks wearing a tie is punk. This is my favorite album of all time, and I got into it during the filming of Harry Potter 2, when I was 12. I was obsessed with punk back then. If the Beatles were a phenomenon, then the Sex Pistols were a revolution. Punk is about rebellion, about not caring what other people think of you, and being free. And it's not about fighting. I don't fight. I don't spit, either."
Right on, Dan! I myself have openly expressed my dislike (no, hatred) towards Avril Lavigne...but when people ask me why, because they say I liked her in grade 6, I say "She is so pop." Another thing...I liked her back then because she was different...a contrast to all the Britneys and whatnot. She "skateboards" and "plays guitar" and "writes her own lyrics." Then you see her on TV saying she's hardcore and punk, when obviously, she's not...and then you think 'What a poser.' And she is.
And then this was also on the interview...it's about the Libertines, one of the coolest and one of my favorite bands out there. It's a shame they stopped playing:
"For me, this album is a reaction to bands like blink-182 and Sum 41. The Libertines don't even claim to be punk, they just are: They have the attitude, the intelligence, and this album is so raw it hurts. Does Pete Doherty make me want to smoke crack? No! He is an icon who just happens to take lots of drugs; he is not an icon because he takes lots of drugs. He is incredibly talented, and a little messed up. I hope he doesn't OD."
Again...right on, Dan. I agree with the whole OD-ing thing...'cause it might just happen. It would be a shame if he does. The British tabloids actually blame him for Kate Moss's downfall (the cocaine incident). I'm not such a fan of Babyshambles though (Pete Doherty's new band)...it lacks. The Libertines should get back together.
